art photography

application
most art photography would be taken in a way that it seemed posed or planned for example if the artist were to take a picture of a building that was modern from a low angle whilst showing the whole building itself, like the photo in Brighton university and then edited to be black and white the picture itself feels old but the building contradicts the actual image by looking new or contemporary, making the person looking at the image think about the meaning. some pictures are taken not intentionally to be anything but a picture and then is edited to make it seem like art, like the pictures in the 3rd gallery we went to with the self portraits of the babies and families taking ordinary self portraits and editing the bodies or faces to make them look better than they were. my idea of conceptual photography is bringing an idea and taking it on a photograph to show different meanings or to show the exact image, but in a purely abstract view, i have seen examples of this style in self portrait photos for example the Dali photo of the cats, water and painting all captured in the air with himself in the picture shows no exact meaning to his life but in an abstract way it makes it feel like a dream. the word art to me means to show expressions though images, the reason i say this as all artists have a unique style in which they create the final image giving that image life and personality.

context
art photography is generally found being shown in galleries from various artist both professional and amature status. they are there for people to admire and think about the perspectives of the artists. some art photography might be found in magazines to help advertise the certain product on that page. The way the photo/art is displayed gives many different effects to the image itself for example if an image was in a frame in a room that realtes to the image it makes it more powerful compared to a picture that is just pineed to a blank wall or canvas.

technique
the final images are used to show different angles and perspectives so that when the consumer views the image they're inclined to think of other meanings into the picture itself, they do this by looking at angles, colours, location, activities in area and various other techniques to get the most of the environment they are in. From what i saw on the trip the images were usualy printed on paper but different galleries put the image up differently like Brighton university pinnee thier images to the wall whilst the gallery with the self portraits had them in frames and also projections.

Fashion Photography

application
This type of photography uses influential methods to gain the consumers interest by focussing on a variety of things for example, looking at the models apeal, the colours used, textures, decade or time in which that styles was adapted and styles. i personally think that this particular genre of photography is shallow in the way it portrays the figure of beauty and how it gives the need to buy or be the person in the picture.

context
This type of photography can be found in alot of different meda types, for example a beauty product can be advertised on tv and poster/bilboards it is used in this to give the product itself a bigger impact for example if the model is using a new perfume and she goes out all glamorous and meets a new man this makes the consumer think its makes them glamorous, it is hugely used in magazines like vogue to help advertise their range of pruducts by using a biased sense of models when it come to female models they traditonally very skinny and attractive when the final picture is printed and with men generally tanned and showing their muscles and power over others.

technique
When fashion photography first started they would use the 10.8 camera this gave the highest amount of quality for the time period it was used but pictures had to be taken upside down as there wasnt a mirror to reflect the image to the right way up. The use of digital allows us now to see the picture straight after allowing us to make descisions there and then about if the picture is perfect. the use of image manipulation means that the image is no longer trustworthy as they usually make changes to the image using computer softwares and also the changes they make in
preparation using makeup.
